Shanna Matavai has completed her final semester in Bachelor of Social Science (Child and Community) at the University of Western Sydney. Furthermore, in her previous years of studying she has completed her Diploma in Community Services at Nirimba Tafe campus. Moreover, Shanna has gained work experience within various sectors such as aged care, disability services and welfare agencies. In addition, Shanna volunteers within diverse agencies, in order to continue to expand knowledge and develop her professional practice. This is where she found her passion for working with vulnerable and marginalized communities. Given this, her interest lies within advocating for Indigenous right’s and participating in protest concerning the prolonged issues this community endures within contemporary society.
Once Shanna graduates with her Bachelor in Social Science (Child and Community), she wishes to utilize her experience, knowledge and skill set gained from her years in tertiary education and channel it into empowering disadvantaged individuals within society to be their own change agents. Furthermore, as a social activist she is fixated on making a change within the system; ultimately bringing about positive change within societal structures, institutions and individuals.
